Rumours have been abound all over the web today about the PS4 after Sony put up a video last night that said literally nothing about anything other than promising that we will “see the future” on Feb 20.Of course, pretty much everyone is assuming that this means a PS4 announcement before E3 where it was originally expected to happen. Check out the video below for yourself:
The use of the official PlayStation logo has hinted towards this and to be honest, at this point if they don’t make a PS4 announcement on Feb 20 there will probably be blood (not a threat, just an observation)!
Hilariously enough, a Microsoft insider told CVG that “[v]ictory will go not to those who make the most noise, but those who make the most impact,” while a Sony insider responded that “[t]he war won’t be won by producing the most powerful system”. Is this… trash talking? Everyone calm down before someone gets hurt!
Big news hit the airwaves yesterday: Rockstar announced that GTA 5’s release date has been pushed back from Spring 2013 as originally planned to Sept 17. This is what they had to say about it:
“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.”
There has been speculation that this delay might be a ploy to coincide with the release of the next-gen consoles. Others say that this rubbish and the delay was completely predictable and just a matter of course. What do you guys think? Or are you just happy that they’ve at least given us a confirmed date now?
Here’s the second official trailer to appease you a bit:
There’s been a lot of activity this week on the Mass Effect front. A recent patch was data-mined to reveal possible ME3 DLC in the near future. This info comes via Clevernoob forum poster TSA_383 and fits with the leak posted on Reddit last week suggesting that there would be a new multiplayer pack called “Reckoning”. According to the description:
“The Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion brings six new never before seen co-op story missions to the game and new co-op gameplay modes. It provides four new maps to conquer and hazard variations of the Earth maps. It also enables reinforcement packs that offer new kits for the Salarians, Krogans, humans and Volus. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Chakram Launcher, Blood Pack Punisher and Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle).”
The newest leak also suggests that this new co-op mode will take into account progress from your single-player campaign including important decisions made. Clues were also found in the files pointing to a “new ultra-light shotgun, assault rifle and pistol materials for multiplayer”. Leaks like these regarding ME DLC have have had a good track record of turning out to be true, so I don’t doubt that this one will too. Bioware puts these leaks down to “technical reasons” and there’s evidence that they were trying particularly hard to hide the info this time as TSA_383 commented “I’ve never seen anything like this one though, it’s SUPER clean”. Not clean enough clearly… not clean enough.
